Since yesterday, the weather hasn't changed. Clouds still loom and threaten rain. The slight breeze does not appear to be enough to push the clouds away.

[ ]Characters!
Bears are the heart and soul of Nitika. Here, all records of them are housed... those who were accepted and now tread the terra that is Nitika, as well as those who are seeking a new roleplayer and are for adoption. If your bear couple has mated, fill out the forms here for cubs to be born. And if you're an great member who's looking for a way to sneak around the rules, we have a board for that too.

[ ]Delving Deeper!
In creating your bear, you've only begun to scratch the surface. You must come here and create a mandatory feeding log, check out the random events this month, plot with others, create character journals, view family group pages.... the list is endless. There are tons of opportunities here to extend your character's 'life' one step further if you choose.

[ ]Along the Way!
A massive plateau scattered with few trees and brown grass lies before you. This is your only way to get to Nitika. In order to do so, you must cross this plateau in your very first IC post on Nitika. Be sure to introduce your character thoroughly, this gives us an idea about your bear and your RPing skill. Please do not roleplay on this board, this is merely introduction.

[ ]Tundra Shreya!
The tundra is nestled on the northernmost part of the island, directly north of Lake Esha and just off the Aditi Coastline. It is rather barren and dreary, and cold year-round. It is usually twenty to forty degrees Fahrenheit beneath the island’s overall temperature at all times. For autumn, winter, and spring, Tundra Shreya is a decent sized area with gray grass and several hills. Deer often come here, but besides this, few inhabitants are present. In the summer, however, the tundra brings cooling relief, and wildflowers bloom all over. It’s a beautiful place if caught at the right moment.

[ ]Lake Esha!
Away from the coastline, just at Tundra Shreya’s southern border, is a rather large lake. It is the home to a considerable amount of aquatic life. Small fish and sometimes newts or frogs dwell along the edges beneath rocks. Towards the center of Lake Esha, where it becomes more than ten feet deep, many large fish and other prized prey reside. Were a bear to get out there—a nearly impossible feat without drowning—it could catch an incredibly filling meal. The shorelines are covered in small, bumpy pebbles. However, the lake is an excellent place to go for a swim on a hot day.

[ ]Singh Fault!
Years ago, a massive earthquake shook Nitika. The destruction was devastating, but in time the wildlife thrived again. However, the land had been forever scarred: a fault, too deep to see the bottom, had been carved into the terra. Within, it is dark, and a home to snakes and other undesirable creatures. The walls of the fault are so fragile and insecure that they crumble upon touch. The fault grows wider with the years of erosion. It has nearly doubled in length and has grown in width considerably. It too has deepened, to more than a thirty-foot drop…

[ ]The Rocks!
Jutting out from the Aditi Coastline, the rocks were made by man. It is a long, narrow formation of rocks, upon which people used to walk out on. They would climb from rock to rock, until at the end, where they would gaze into the deep ocean waters. The rocks have managed to stay in ample state; despite the stress the natural world has applied to its land lately. It is generally considered safe, but it is recommended by all wise bears to go with only those you trust. To be pushed off the end would be to drown.

[ ]Jayant Wetlands!
The wetlands are a soggy, dangerous place of existence. Grass grows over the murky blue-green water, but beneath the water can often be twelve or more feet deep. It is important to test your footing here—it’s not a particularly safe place. Reeds sprout up from the underwater world, while small fish, frogs, and turtles dwell beneath. There is no telling what else could be living within the clouded depths. After all, you cannot see very deep into the aquatic wasteland without venturing in yourself. Anyone sensible would avoid this at all costs, and cross the wetlands only to get to another place. It is not a suitable home.

[ ]Sati!
Nearly forty years ago, Nitika had been inhabited by the human race. A small Asian village, complete with a bazaar, had existed here, sandwiched peacefully between the plateau and wetlands. The village was quiet, cooperative. But the earthquakes and tsunamis that tore Nitika from Asia’s mainland destroyed the human population on this piece of land. All that remain are the wrecked village and bazaar. They provide an interesting place for exploring, and you can exchange leaves for other prizes in the abandoned bazaar.

[ ]Malati Rapids!
As the Malati winds throughout Nitika, it grows fierce in one particular spot. This is the Malati Rapids. Rocks jut out from beneath the waters, and accompanied with the fast currents, this part of the river can be dangerous. It is a commonplace to find good food, though. The salmon love this part of the river. If a bear happens to come by the rapids at the right time, they could end up with quite the feast. Family group leaders in search of immediate food supply should try the rapids; the chances that they can supply nourishment are quite good.

[ ]Rainforest Kalyan!
The rainforest is a place of life. It is home to more than half of all Nitika’s species. As the rapids give way to calmer currents, the rainforest materializes. Nitika is a strange place, having tundra to the north and rainforest to the south. But Nitika has taken the blunt end of nature’s furious blows, mutating the way things were to have very temperature-independent areas. It makes sense, however, considering Nitika’s massive size. The rainforest is proof to this theory, with its humid air and warm year-round temperature. Many exotic animals live here, including the aquatic kind: the Malati runs through the dense rainforest. Birds can be heard singing for some distance around the rainforest. It is a beautiful place to be...

Reglisse
[ ]Rama Bay!
Clear, pristine, and warm. Just off the coast from Yash Forest, this bay is a beautiful, relaxing place to be. The occasional ray jets through the salt water, and brightly colored fish are always about. The sand is soft, and accompanied by the warm waters, this body of water is both calming and relieving. The great pandas often come here after eating a filling meal of bamboo in the forest, as it is so convenient. While there isn’t much beach, but a small sliver of sand, it is still an enjoyable place for any creature to be. In fact, the Malati empties here.

[ ]Yash Forest!
Yash Forest is, mainly, the domain of the great pandas. It provides their only food source—the bamboo grove—and is only a matter of yards from the beautiful Rama Bay. The pandas have it good here. They can feast upon the grove, as well as drink fresh water from the Malati—it runs through this forest—and then head to the bay for a break afterwards. Truthfully, the giant pandas have no reason to leave Reglisse and the area around the forest, as there is a cavern—the only den site within Reglisse—enclosed by Yash Forest.

[ ]Gita Chaparral!
The chaparral is the warmest land so far discovered on Nitika. It is, simply, scrubland. Lizards dart about, and small predators gobble them up. The coyotes come here in the fall and winter, for their coats are scrawny and don’t hold in much heat. In the spring and summer, though, they are nowhere to be found. Besides these creatures, not much is around: large rocks, with tiny openings at the bottom where something has burrowed, and scrub. Unless looking for the coyotes or coming for the warmth in cooler seasons, it’s not a pleasurable place to be. If the heat’s not enough, it’s a few miles to the nearest fresh water.
00
[ ]Aditi Coastline!
This is the only other known spot, besides the one in Uzadi, where the coastline becomes something of a coastline. In short, it’s uncommon for the shore to be much of a beach. Here, it is. While it’s a bit rocky, and the water is quite cold, it’s a nice spot to be alone. Not a lot of creatures come here, as there’s not much reason to. This place isn’t good for many things, beyond being used for swimming or sitting on its hard shoreline. It’s no wonder there isn’t much beach on Nitika: when there is, it doesn’t turn out to be worth much.

[ ]Dhaval Mountains!
The cascading, rugged mountains are the borderline dividing Nitika in half. They run the length of the island, seeming intent on separating the two worlds of wildlife. Frost-coated peaks tower above the lands below. While the rest of the island is bathed in sunlight, the mountain crests are covered in snow. These formations are nearly impossible to scale, and those who attempt it will die trying. However, there is a hidden pass connecting the land of Shezade to the other half of Nitika. Concealed well, but just visible from the far side of the mountains, it opens to Tundra Shreya. But with time, the pass has become blocked with large chunks of stone. It has become belnded with the rest of the mountain from the side of the tundra, and so has remained unseen. The only hope of its discovery comes from the other side, in Shezade, land of the white bears...

[ ]Jaidev Sheets!
Massive, outstretching sheets of solid ice extend out as far as the eye can see. Their waved, uneven surfaces aren't slippery, despite the ice they're made of, for severla feet of snow has clung to the ice, there from the past winter. In a place so frigid, it's no surprise. But when the summer comes, it begins to melt, entire sheets crumbling at the fingertips of the sun's rays. During this time it is most hazardous to come here, for the pressure of one's paws against the snow could be enough, in some weak spots, to send the floor out from beneath you. This is a place for those who wish to live dangerously.

[ ]Ice Field Amar!
As the sheets progress, to the south they fade into an ice field. Its inches thick, crystal-like surface is the essential hunting grounds for any polar bear. Dive beneath the ice, into the frigid seas, stalk a seal's fuzzy shape until just the right moment, and then... burst through the ice, sinking your teeth into your prey. The surface is sturdy enough to cross, but under great force, like that of a battle, it is prone to cracking. But, alas, that is the nature of ice. This is, then, the perfect place to teach cubs just that lesson. Its strong enough to support the weight of a group of bears, but it only takes a little effort to go pummeling into the icy depths.

[ ]Roshan Alpine!
Nestled amidst the icy harshnest of Shezade is an alpine forest. Its towering trees are caked with snow, as the prickly grasses of the floor are light sprinkled with a fine white blanket. Any creature passing through would have trouble refraining from gaping at the scene around them. The beautiful, dark green tones of forest are delicately covered in white, and beyond the forest is a spectacular scene. The ice sheets, in all their magnificent beauty, are laid out. Just a bit beyond and beside that is the ice sheet. The forest is a good place to sit and watch other bears in their hunting; many a grisly scene can be caught sight of. But the same can be said of the forest. Many small creatures roam about; mountain goats also come down from the mountains. It's an ideal hunting site for a famished bear.

[ ]Ashoka Tar Pits!
Black and merciless, this area has the potential to be a life and death battlefield for a passerby. It's not uncommon to come across carcasses atop the pits, So sticky is this substance that avoiding stepping in it is the only way to ensure your survival. When there's so much concentrated in one place, bubbling at you, death is always just one step behind you.

[ ]Damayanti Desert!
Here is the epicenter of all the heat on Nitika. It is by far the most scorching of all areas, with temperatures at ten to twenty degrees above the average for the island. Let's put it this way: a polar bear would not last here more than an hour. The whole landscape here is sand. Flat across, dunes, you name it; it's all sand. There are a multitude of creatures that call this place their home, and several species of vegetation that can serve as cures for certain diseases.

[ ]Devdan Deeps!
Devdan means "gift from the gods" and in this place, truly it is. The one sole opportunity to escape the heat is here. Deep underground, where the tunnels wind, it grows quite cool. Go down far enough, almost to the end, and you may even find it chilly. How are these here? It's unknown, but they are, and thankfully for any travelers at that.

[ ]The Mass Graves!
A more disturbing aspect to the natural disasters that made Nitika this way... the many natural disasters that made Nitika this way killed hundreds of people. In a desperate attempt to flee, there was no time to bury the bodies properly... so massive, open graves were filled with huge amounts of bodies. Heat and time has caused decay... but among the bones is some still-decaying flesh, filling the air with a horrid smell.
